RapGod
Update (April, 2017) – The RapGod was created over 2 years ago (which is a lifetime in this industry). Parts have been upgraded and replaced. Fabrication methods have improved. What has not changed is the “made-to-order” mentality. These are still made one at a time, and they take time to make. Challenging at times, they are my favorite thing to produce. They hold their own, even in 2017.
By the time you read this, there will be at least four or five different high wattage (120-200watt) devices out on the market for you to spend your hard earned cash on. The difference between my box mods and those that are commercially available is that each device I make is unique and custom made to order; one at a time – with attention to detail.
There is no fast-paced assembly line, and I do not hire unskilled workers to “get the job done”. Building a box mod is like picking a lock; it can go exactly the way you planned, or it can take hours on something that should have taken minutes – but either way, the end result is all that matters. Very few people will understand the excitement and misery that can go into building a successful mod, and even fewer can tolerate such a challenge more than once.
The RAPGOD Project began as a “challenge” by a colleague who knew that I had built box mods in the past; he challenged me to build something that was more sophisticated – I accepted the challenge and delivered. Unlike other commercial branches of the vaping industry, the box modding community does hide its secrets, or sue fellow innovators. There is a wealth of shared information out there, and anyone with the right set of skills and mindset can get started on their own. However, it can be a laborious process to get things just right, and those who are too “green”, who jump right into building build their first box may find it difficult to see things through to the end with such detail. With that said, having to fix mistakes and redo work sucks, but being 100% confident in your final product is priceless.

The RapGod (Original/LL/M) is an advanced portable vaporizer, capable of generating an excess amount of power.
It uses a GE buck regulator chip which is capable of delivering up to 120 watts of power at 20 Amps. There is no commercially available Chinese made box mod that currently uses this chip.It can power any atomizer (using a native 510 connection) – but it is specifically meant for atomizers with a resistance in the 0.3ohm-1.8ohm range. Power is adjusted through voltage, which has a range between approximately 3.4volts-6.0volts. Voltage range and adjustment style can be custom built to order.
All RapGod models come equipped redundant layers of protection – which together, help keep the device safe and your batteries healthy. Although the RapGod is meant for advanced users only, it is designed to be idiot-proof. Other makers may omit protection devices from their build for an easier build. I do not. There are no exceptions to this on any device.
Besides the actual electronic components, a great deal of effort goes into making the box itself look nice…
The first stage begins with squaring, rounding, and shaping molded aluminum boxes which do not come to me in perfect form. Adding this step allows your atomizer deck to sit flush on your box, and your box flat to sit on the table. The box lids themselves do not come perfectly formed either. Although subtle to most, these small details really set off the final product, once they are powdercoated.
75% of the chip and its components can be wired outside the box – but final assembly requires a very strategic layout and some consideration on how it will be put to use in the real world. Aimlessly soldering wires and cramming them inside the box is not a viable solution here. This is especially important on smaller models like the RapGod Original or M version, where there is almost no free space for little room for error.
The most important stage involves actually testing the mod and putting it to use. Although I bench test each mod, it pays to actually use it for a day like a normal person would. Small details like battery rattle or a weak magnetic lid can make a big difference in the final product. Sometimes, I will make revisions to a completed mod if I’m not satisfied with it.
RapGod “Original”
The Original RapGod was the one that got it all started. I wanted this box to be everything I could possibly ever need – an excess of power, digital display, a comfortable firing switch, and all of this in an enclosure worth carrying around.
DIMENSIONS:
RapGod Orignal (3.94”x1.97”x1.00”)
SPECS:
Max Power: 120W @ 20A
Voltage*: 3.4volts-6.0V (Linear)
Resistance: 0.3ohm-1.8ohm (recommended)
Batteries: 2 x 18650 (In Series)
PROTECTION:
Battery Protection: Resettable PTC poly-fuses (protection from fault/unstable batteries)
Low-Voltage Protection: Chip will cutoff power at 6.4v (3.2v for each battery) to keep batteries healthy
Reverse Battery Protection: Prevents chip damage from accidental reverse polarity
Reverse Battery LED Indicator: Visual reverse battery alert
LCD Voltmeter**: Shows input voltage, voltage under load, output voltage, battery voltage “sag”
* Minimum voltage can be designed lower, if resistances below 0.2ohms are preferred.
RapGod “LL”
The LL exists because it was asked of me, not because I wanted one of these for myself. Who knew I would sell more of these than any of my other models combined?
It outputs the same amount of power as the Original RapGod, but takes advantage of its larger enclosure – with plenty of room to house 2 x 26650 batteries, a large 19mm fire switch, and an extruding ceramic voltage dial.
DIMENSIONS:
RapGod LL (4.41”x2.38”x1.22”)
SPECS:
Max Power: 120W @ 20A
Voltage*: 3.4volts-6.0V (Linear or Curved)
Resistance: 0.3ohm-1.8ohm (recommended)
Batteries: 2 x 26650 (In Series)
PROTECTION:
Battery Protection: Resettable PTC poly-fuses (protection from fault/unstable batteries)
Low-Voltage Protection: Chip will cutoff power at 6.4v (3.2v for each battery) to keep batteries healthy
Reverse Battery Protection: Prevents chip damage from accidental reverse polarity
Reverse Battery LED Indicator: Visual reverse battery alert
LCD Voltmeter**: Shows input voltage, voltage under load, output voltage, battery voltage “sag”
* Minimum voltage can be designed lower, if resistances below 0.2ohms are preferred. The LL’s ceramic potentiometer voltage control is curved, so that you have finer increment control over the lower voltages and coarse increment control over the high voltages. This gives you more precise adjustability with lower ohm builds.
** LCD Voltmeter available on Original and LL models only.
RapGod “M”
This M is truly my “baby” and the one I cherish most. I could not have built this without building several other models first (Original and LL).
It is extremely small; smaller than a pack of cigarettes. It is capable of producing 120 watts, like the Original and the LL, only, this one uses special tactile micro-switch (mounted flush) and lacks a digital readout. There is nothing you can buy from China that is both this size and this powerful.
